Rosemary Foam Herbal Latte

Oct 1 / Alberto Carbo
Although I love having black coffee, as well as a Café con Leche or latte, I definitely also like adding herbs to my coffee. My favorite way is to steep some herbs in the milk which I will be adding to my coffee. My favorite is Rosemary, as well as more classics like cinnamon and cardamom. Try some different herbs to see what you like! This is great as a start to your day or as a dessert companion.

Rosemary Foam Herbal Latte

Ingredients:
  • 13 ounces (400 ml) milk (or milk alternative)
  • 1-2 Fresh Rosemary sprigs (or 1.5 tbsp dried Rosemary)

Instructions:
  1. Warm up the milk and add the Rosemary (chopped up) right before it boils.
  2. Turn the heat off, cover the pot, and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Strain the milk (unless you don’t mind the herbs!).
  4. Prepare coffee in your favorite way.
  5. Reheat the milk and turn it off.
  6. Froth the milk. (This is not a necessary step but nice. You can even use a hand blender to froth milk if you do not have a frother.)
  7. Fill the cup half to 2/3 with coffee.
  8. Top off with milk.
  9. Enjoy!
As always make sure to forage for plants away from roads and pollution as much as possible. Never overharvest any plant, as they are of course not only here for our enjoyment, but also here for the insects, bees, and birds. Have fun out there!
